You know even though I don't agree with the way this war started off. I saw this post by [livejournal.com profile] elusis and I was inspired.

I know too many people who either have been deployed already, or are going to be deployed in a few months. I know that they would like to get mail.

My question is this. Would any of you Chicago peeps like to help put together a couple of packages to be sent to deployed troops? I can't do this on my own due to my budget.

Here are a few other links for care package ideas:

i read today that they are stopping several of the package delivery services because bad things could be sent to them. they had an email thing set up for people to use, too.

but anyway. i think it's a good idea. i've read too many articles about 19 year old males who are horrified and scared right now. so. good idea! :)

After I posted, I saw one of the announcements...

I remember helping my sister's Brownie troop do a *huge* cookie baking weekend during Operation Dessert Storm. They got so many thank you notes, it made the girls happy that they had been able to help.

I also know that they are probably also hearing about all the protest going on back here in the States, which probably isn't helping.

Even if I can only get a bundle of letters sent off to someone, I think it will help lift spirits.
