Garden Glee!!!!

This is the first year I have lived someplace where I look forward to putting together a garden in a long time.
Last summer was the move and I was pretty apathetic towards gardening after that. Even though I did move at the beggining of the growing season.
Reuben and I rent from my mom. Also, the house being in the city, we don't have a huge lot. Much of the yard is grass. There is a long strip of non grass area along our neighbor's tall chain link fence, a similar strip along the fence that runns along the sidewalk (we have a corner lot) and a four by four raised bed in the middle of the yard.
Plans for the fence along the sidewalk currently include: planting Picotee Blue morning glories and Canary Climber to run up and grow on the fenc. Inside the yard, we have three or four Lilac "sticks" that were shoots transplanted from my great grandmother's garden of Lilac trees when the farm was sold. In the little bit of space left we have been thinking of putting in some more viola's to keep the ones my grandmother gave us before she moved to New Mexico when I was smaller. In the little strip that is on the outside of the fence, we were talking about growing violas.
The four by four raised bed has been taken over by the yellow lillies also from my great grandmother's garden. In the remaining space there is talk of planting cosmos (seeds also originally from my grandmother), andReuben's mom was talking of buying a couple of Chocolate Cosmos and letting me have a plant or two (as they are very rarely sold in seed format).
The other stretch of fence is to be divided up into segments. The portion in the main part of the yard is planned out for scarlett morning glories and moonflowers, along with a climbing plant mix that has nastartiums, sweet peas, and I wanna say a cardnal climber (I can't find where mom put those seeds),maybe a scarlett runner bean plant or two, with some cheery yellow poppies of a variety that don't look like your standard oriental poppies. Maybe some of the big red Oriental poppies that my uncle Willy loved so much in memory of him,
The second section is along the back patio that runs along the side of the garage. Traditionally we have planed tomatoes there. It it split in half by a massive chive plot that is older than I am. We are going to grow tomatoes on one side, and plant zuchinni on the other side (to grow up and along the fence.
Mom wants to grow her herb garden in hanging pots along the four by four section as it gets partial shade from my sister's maple tree. I also want to get some containers and grow Four O Clocks in (as there is something so pretty and relaxing about their dark green leaves and white and blue flowers framed on the leaves).
I have to sit down with the seed catalogs before Reuben's mom sends in her order. I was very tempted by the bush okra plant that they said was suitable for containers, and the potted fig plants (but there is no way we can move it unless we grow it at Reuben's parent's), and I definatly want to get a lilly bulb (don't recall the name) It has really pretty red flowers, and is more of a houseplant for our lattitude.
I like planning for gardening, I missed digging in the dirt and the rewards of watching things grow, and the results of flowers or vegitables
I'm tempted to ask if we can put in some supports and make a string frame along one side of the four by four bed. and do the beans along there. I don't know yet. Need to talk to mom.
