And now for something completely different...

You know, it's surprising how the addition of the zest from 1 orange and the juice of half that orange to a package of brownie mix makes the brownies so much tastier....

I now know I worked at a copy shop for far too long. My mom gave me a bunch of color copies of photos of my grandma (I'm working on a large collage for her surprise party tommorrow (she turns 80 this year), and the first thing I though when I saw the color copies of the old black and white photos from when she was young and she and my grandpa were just starting their life together was "I know exactly what mom should have done to make these more clear and less copy dark"

It made me feel like such a dork...

I'm not so sure I like this friday fives questions, so instead Here are the five most used appliances in my kitchen (not counting the stove and refregirator):

1. Rice maker
2. air popper
3. Bread machine
4. Toaster oven (it's large enough to cook a 9"x9" glass pan in it)
5. microwave and electric kettle are tied for fifth

Orange with chocolate is the best! My mom's addicted to the dark-chocolate-covered-orange rinds from Fannie May. Dad used to bring them to her from the outlet downtown on his way home. Yummmm... I like a little orange zest in chocolate mouse, too, but you have to be careful with the acid versus cream thing.

I love those chocolate covered orange rinds.

It makes me glad at times that even though it's been years since I bought candies from them, that I live in the midwest where there are Fannie May stores. I have friends who have to go buy things to take back east with them when they come in for holidays.

I couldn't imagine that.
