Man, I usually buy my black and white film from a camera shop. It's a little bit more, but the film tends to develop better than the same Black and white film bought from a drug store. However, the nice thing was that Walgreens carried Kodak T-Max film that was not too horribly priced compared to the color film and I could develope it myself.

However, it seems the T-Max and the T-Max Pan have been discontinued. Walgreens now carries a standard Black and white film I bought a 3 pack and opened it before I realised that on the side of the box was emblazoned DO NOT USE WITH BLACK AND WHITE CHEMICALS.

Which means, I now own black and white film that I cannot develop myself.

I guess that's not a problem for me at the moment, as I don't have acess to a darkroom. Butit now means anytime I want to buy good Black and White film I am going to have to ride out to Wolf Camera and buy in bulk (just for ease. I would rather have 10 rolls of film in the fridge ready to use than not have any film on hand). It also means that I may be switching over to the Ilford film line. As I have had some nice photos taken with it, and I know how to develope it (the times differ than the kodak films).

this statement from the kodack web site offended me a bit:

"Capture what matters in timeless black and white.
The classic and elegant look of black and white, easily processed at any photofinisher."

personally, I like how my film turns out when I process it myself. I have yet to get cloudy negatives or ruined film. Which I have gotten many tiomes when having a photofinisher do...
Also, They now make black and white film for the advantix cameras. This makes me happy, as I now have a roll for the point and shoot when I run out of the film in it :)

Also, I really want to play Star Wars Galaxies. But all the servers have been down all day.

Plus we have the Shadowrun tabletop tonight, and don't know where it is being held at...

edit: It looks like the T-Max proffesional film line is still being made. But only the T-Max100 the 400 and 3200 are on the discontinued line. It's a pity, I really liked that particular film type alot.

I still get T-Max at a local drug store here. However, I still get everything developed at the photofinisher as I've never had the opportunity to learn darkroom developing.

One of these days I hope. I'm never fully satisfied with photo places.

I think I am going to try and take a class this winter as I live someplace that doesn't have an easily transformable bathroom to darkroom. I have rolls of film I have taken over the past two and a half years that I haven't had prints made of(due tio using a non-chain photofinishing shop that did all B&W work by hand (the development with contact sheets for 6+ rolls of film was pricey enough as it was), or want to make enlarged images of (some of my car being crushed by a tree fall into the latter).

I've taken a lot of black and white pics in the past with my Leica and I found that ilford just suited me the best. I really enjoyed how everything came out and for some reason it made even my bad pics look good. As for a dark room, if there is a junior college down the street i've found that if you walk in looking stressed, they don't ask to many questions and just assume you're a student working on a project. While I do not in any way condone this...ahem...It's just a thought.
