I made Soba noodle soup.
For the soup base I used a spicy tofu soup mix minus the tofu.
This is what Reuben had to say about it,
" damn this chinese soup is SpIcEy!!! "
"damn i cant read chinese but im farily sure this package says "Warning too hot!!""
Now I didn't feel the spicy heat.
So it's been determined that Reuben can bite into chili pepers and be fine while I am saying "this is hot!". And I can eat spicy sesame oil flavoring in soup and be fine while he's like "this is hot!"
(for those wondering yes the packeage did say spicy on it. I just didn't think it very spicy. I added shitakes and tvp bits to my cup. It was *yum*)

I LOVE soba
on 2003-09-26 06:09 am (UTC)a great way to have them is actually cold...boil the noodles till just tender and rinse in cold water
then mix about a teaspoon each of rice vinager, toasted sesame oil, soy, and fish sauce...if you like some heat add a bit of chili oil or a hot pepper sauce or even diced peppers
toss the dressin in the noodles...top with sesame seeds...
I also like to cook up some edemame and throw those in for a more complete meal...
they are the best at room temp.
yummy yummy yummy
Re: I LOVE soba
on 2003-09-26 11:52 am (UTC)I've usually gotten them premade cold. They are Yummy like that.
I will try your recipie the next time I make soba noodle (we just ran out).
I was in a soup mood and the soba taste much better in soups than rice noodle (IMO).
