(no subject)

Last night, after driving Billie over to her boy friends, I found something cool.

I was walking around the yard, checking out the plants, and As I looked at the hole neatly dug into the ground under the tree (we have a circle of non grass area with shade loving flowers in it at the base of the tree) I saw a little dirt covered disk. Upon taking it upstairs and cleaning off as much of the dirt as I could, I discovered that it is a "wheat" penny (the ones with the leaves on the back) and the date on it is 1929.

I have never found anythiong that old in the ground before, though there have been coins found in neighboring lawns that dated to the turn of the century.

It made me smile :)

I grew up knowing them as just wheat pennies. I had never heard Wheat eared untill you mentioned it :)
