if you like GBV, there are a couple listservs on yahoo that you could join...

postalblowfish is dedicated almost soully to guided by voices, and donkeylarch is an indy rock/random funny stuff list...lots of cool people.

sorry if this seems kind of random, but i came across your lj on the random search thingy and the gbv subject heading caught my eye.

You know,
I don't think I've ever *heard* GBV
I came up with the phrases while decorating my headphones.

I thought it a great name for an eclectic music type show

It wasn't until after I got my show slot,
that I discovered there was a band by the same name.

We've got something of theirs in the new music section.
I should probably take a listen to it.

that's a pretty cool coincidence. their music is interesting. the frontman, bob pollard, is a very prolific songwriter and produces most of the stuff in a very unpolished way. lots of feedback and weird lo-fi type stuff. a lot of it sounds like it was done in somebody's basement with retro equipment, which is pretty much true, but it's kinda nifty to listen to.
